Spartz to Host Second X Spaces Live Policy Discussion on FISA

April 14, 2026

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Victoria Spartz (IN-05) will host the second in her series of live policy discussions on X Spaces this Thursday, April 16, at 8:00 p.m. ET.

The discussion, “FISA Reauthorization: How Much Surveillance Is Too Much?”, featuring special guests former Congressman Matt Gaetz and Center for Democracy and Technology FISA policy expert Jake Laperruque, will explore key issues surrounding Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). This live briefing will also include an opportunity for audience members to participate in a Q&A.

To join the conversation, participants can visit Rep. Spartz’s official page on X, @RepSpartz, at the time of the event.

Section 702 of FISA was enacted in 2008 in response to 9/11 and allows targeting of non-U.S. persons located outside the United States to acquire foreign intelligence information. However, widespread violations have been identified by the FISA Court, and significant controversy remains over the collection of large amounts of data on U.S. persons through this authority.
