Flood Recovery Resources

Rep. Spartz and our office continue to coordinate with federal, state, and local officials to assist Hoosiers affected by severe flooding across Indiana’s 5th District.

On August 25, President Trump approved a Major Disaster Declaration for 21 Indiana counties following flooding, severe storms, tornadoes, and straight-line winds beginning August 11, 2026.

Residents of Hamilton, Delaware, Madison, and Tipton counties are now eligible to apply for FEMA Individual Assistance.

FEMA Individual Assistance can help eligible individuals and households with disaster-related needs and expenses. Application deadline is October 25, 2026.

How to apply:

If you have insurance: File a claim with your insurance provider first. FEMA cannot duplicate insurance benefits but may assist with eligible expenses not covered by your policy.

Other Assistance Available

  • Indiana Disaster Relief: Eligible Hoosiers may apply for up to $5,000 through Indiana’s State Disaster Relief Fund. Apply HERE.
  • Immediate Needs: Call 211 for help finding food, housing, transportation, and other local resources.
  • USDA Assistance: Emergency loans are available to eligible agricultural producers in Hamilton, Madison, Delaware, Tipton, Grant, and Howard counties. Contact your local Farm Service Agency or visit the FSA website HERE for disaster assistance and to report crop or farmland damage. Application deadline: April 26, 2027.
  • SBA Physical Damage Loans: Available to eligible individuals and businesses in Hamilton, Delaware, Madison, and Tipton counties. Application deadline: October 25, 2026. Apply HERE.
  • SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans: Available to eligible businesses in Hamilton, Delaware, Madison, Tipton, Grant, and Howard counties. Application deadline: May 25, 2027. Apply HERE.
  • Help with Federal Agencies: If flooding caused you to lose a passport, Social Security card, or other federal document—or you need assistance with another federal agency—call our office or open a case HERE.
