Spartz Co-Sponsors Illegal Immigrant Payoff Prohibition Act
WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, Congresswoman Victoria Spartz (R-Ind.) joined Rep. Tom McClintock (R-Cal.), Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, as a co-sponsor of the Illegal Immigrant Payoff Prohibition Act in response to the proposed $450,000 per person payments to illegal immigrants.
The legislation will prevent the Attorney General from making settlement payments to individuals and families who entered the United States illegally.
"The reported settlement of $450,000 per person to illegal immigrants is outrageous and an overreach by the executive branch,” said Rep. Spartz. “Congress must reassert itself and take its powers back. The Illegal Immigrant Payoff Prohibition Act does just that.”
