Spartz Announces Winner of the 2023 Congressional App Challenge

Carmel, IN – Today, Rep. Victoria Spartz (IN-05) announced Jasper Zhu of Carmel High School as the winner of the 2023 Congressional App Challenge (CAC) for Indiana’s 5th Congressional District. Jasper’s winning app, "I Pooped There," allows users to find the cleanest public restroom wherever they are located. Jasper and his teammate, Jackie Wei of California, used JavaScript to create their mobile app.
“It’s always a pleasure seeing fun and innovative ideas and solutions from our Hoosier youth,” said Rep.Spartz. “Computer science skills play a critical role in the 21st-century economy, and I am proud that IN-05 schools are producing some of our nation’s brightest minds.”
“I Pooped There” will be showcased on www.House.gov, and it will also be part of a rotating display in the Cannon House Office Building leading to the U.S. Capitol. Jasper has received an invitation to the Congressional App Challenge’s House of Code winners’ reception on Capitol Hill next Spring, joining other victorious participants from around the nation. A demonstration video of the I Pooped There app can be viewed on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uru3fx5ewLo.
Commencing in 2014 as a collaboration between the U.S. House of Representatives and the Internet Education Foundation (IEF), the CAC is open to middle and high school students.
