Judiciary Committee Holds Second Field Hearing in Manhattan on Rising Crime

April 18, 2023

Washington, D.C. - Yesterday, Rep.Victoria Spartz (R-IN) participated in the House Judiciary Committee field hearing, “Victims of Violent Crime in Manhattan,” to examine how Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s activist policies have led to an increase in violent crime in New York City.

"As someone who came from a communist country, it appalls me what’s happening with our broken criminal justice system. Lawlessness and mob rule are very dangerous," said Rep. Spartz. "Our government is set up to protect people’s rights to life, liberty, and property—and instead it’s trying to take rights from law abiding citizens."

During the hearing, Rep. Spartz expressed her gratitude for the witnesses’ powerful testimony, as well as her concerns regarding Democrat prosecutors’ unwillingness to enforce criminal law in places like New York or Indianapolis.
