LAWRENCE, Ind. – Today, Congresswoman Victoria Spartz (R-Ind.) participated in a roundtable hosted by local business and community leaders from the Greater Lawrence Chamber of Commerce, then traveled to the Lawrence Police Department to meet with Mayor Steve Collier, Chief of Police David Hofmann and other law enforcement officers. During the business roundtable, the group provided valuable feedback on immigration, workforce and cybersecurity issues, and the conversations with the mayor and Lawrence Police Department centered on public safety initiatives and fiscal policy issues impacting the city of Lawrence. “I appreciate the leadership and service of Mayor Steve Collier, Chief of Police David Hofmann and the other members of the Lawrence Police Department, in addition to the strong engagement from the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce to continue driving progress in the city,” said Rep. Spartz. “I look forward to being a partner in advancing issues important to Lawrence.” “I look forward to working the Rep. Spartz on several key issues impacting the City of Lawrence,” said Lawrence Mayor Steve Collier. “We appreciate her visit to our Lawrence Police Department and are grateful to have her as an advocate for our community.” “It was wonderful that Representative Spartz would seek out the local small business community for input so early in her term,” said Brad Klopfenstein, Greater Lawrence Chamber of Commerce president. “Obviously, Lawrence is at the extreme southern end of her district, but our thriving tech campus and our diversity gives Lawrence a unique perspective when it comes to leading both Indiana, and the nation, forward. At a time when Washington and our leaders can seem so far away, it was refreshing to have Washington and our leaders come to us to seek out ideas.” Earlier this week, Rep. Spartz cosigned a bipartisan letter with other members of the Indiana congressional delegation to Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen to assist in resolving a federal funding error having a negative impact on the City of Lawrence. |
